Fresh Flower Care Tips

Although fresh flowers are gifts of nature, proper care can extend their lifespan and viewing time. Here are some tips to help your fresh flowers last longer.
Flower Bouquet
- Before placing fresh flowers in a vase, thoroughly clean the vase, preferably using dish soap or a dishwasher.
- For soft-stemmed flowers, such as Ranunculus, Peony, Tulip, Freesia, fill the vase with water to about one quarter full (relatively less water). For harder or woody-stemmed flowers, such as Hydrangea, Rose, Eucalyptus, fill the vase to about three quarters full (relatively more water).
- Change the water completely every day.
- Every one to two days, cut about 2 centimeters off the stem at an angle with scissors to help the stems absorb water better.
- Remove all leaves below the waterline to prevent bacteria from causing the flowers to wilt quickly.
- Place the fresh flowers in a cool spot, keeping them away from high temperatures and strong light.
- Avoid placing fresh flowers next to ripe fruits or vegetables, especially bananas and apples.
- You may add flower nourishment powder (Flower Food) or 1-2 drops of household bleach to the water to extend the life of the fresh flowers.
Flower Basket
